Open Atelier offers a professional shared space to develop your own sewing projects with expert support, while digital sewing patterns make selected Layers designs available to create at home.

What We Do

Offers a personalized approach to fashion, allowing individuals to create garments tailored specifically to their measurements, style preferences, and fabric choices. This process ensures a perfect fit and unique design, reflecting the wearer’s personality and needs.

Achieves a precise fit and enhances the silhouette. The process involves altering garments through techniques such as hemming, taking in seams, and adjusting shoulders or sleeves to create a piece that complements individual body shapes, reflecting personal style and attention to detail.

Creating a tech pack, which includes detailed specifications, measurements, fabric choices, trims, and construction details. Using the tech pack, the initial muslin sample and, after multiple fittings, pre-production sample are developed.

Sketching concepts, building mood boards, working on fabric selection, precise pattern-making and assembling the final garment. Multiple fittings ensure the garment meets aesthetic and functional requirements.

Ensures your original designs are expertly scaled to a full size range with precision and consistency — maintaining the integrity of the fit, proportion, and style across all sizes. Ideal for both ready-to-wear and custom collections.

Open Atelier gives you access to a professional sewing workspace where you can work independently on your own garments, while an experienced garment developer is there to help with technical questions, fitting, pattern adjustments or construction whenever needed.
It’s for sewists who want more freedom than a sewing class and more support than working alone at home. You bring the project; the atelier gives you the space, equipment and expertise to take it further.

Unisex oversized shirt sewing pattern | PDF digital download | Sizes XS-XXL
This is another interpretation of our Lavallière Shirt, which keeps the original's oversized proportions, dropped shoulders and elongated sleeves, while introducing a hood for a more relaxed, contemporary feel. The signature one-piece collar stand extends into long ribbons that can be tied into a bow, knotted loosely, or left undone.
The contrast between the expressive ribbon collar and the utilitarian hood gives the shirt an unexpected character - somewhere between tailored shirting and casual sportwear.
Skill level: Intermediate. Includes traditional shirt sleeve placket, flat-felled seam finishing.
